Get to know the cat's preferences

Cats have various preferences regarding litter, which are formed during their stay in the cattery or in the shelter. Cat's paw pads are very sensitive to touch; however, each cat will prefer a different type of litter in their toilet. For one purr, fine-grained litter works best, while another cat prefers pellet litter. Pay attention to the cat's preferences, and if you want to change the type of litter, do it gradually - mix the existing litter with the new one and slowly increase the amount of new litter. There are several important factors to consider when choosing cat litter. If you have several cats at home, opt for a highly absorbent litter that will help reduce unpleasant odours in your home. If your cat has any problems with urinating, be sure to check the litter selection with your veterinarian.

Choosing the right litter box is also very important. Some cats prefer open litter box design as they are easily accessible, while some prefer covered boxes which give them more privacy. Covered litter boxes are also an ideal solution for cats that like to dig in their litter but also for cat owners to keep their home and the area around the litter box smelling fresh.

Regularly clean your cat's litter box, sieve the cat droppings and top up the litter level. Remember not to carry out too often general cleaning in the litter box, including changing the litter and washing the entire litter box. The scents of your purr collect in the litter box, which guarantee him a feeling of freedom in the toilet. A good rule of thumb is to empty the entire contents of the litter box about twice a month. However, the litter should be replaced immediately if there is odour spreading from the box or if the litter is generally wet or clumped. Every time the litter is replaced completely, the tray should be washed thoroughly with mild soap and water (or a solution of water and white vinegar). Bleach or other harsh chemicals should be avoided - cats are very sensitive to smells.
